Aadi Arya Karthik earned the privilege of representing Georgia at the 2018 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition held May 13-14, 2018 in Washington, D.C.

The style of competition (fast and shallow rather than deep problems) was not Aadi Arya Karthik’s favorite but with great coaching from Mrs. Duzyol, finished 14th as a team.
As we expected, Aadi Arya appreciated the opportunity but was expecting to do even better.

Ready for the competition.
Aadi Arya Karthik, as an 8th grader, at South Forsyth Middle School qualified for the 4 person Georgia MATHCOUNTS team in 2018. Mrs. Sema Duzyol, Mathematics Department Chair at Fulton Science Academy Private School in Alpharetta, volunteered to coach them. Every week, all day Saturday and a few week days after school she spent with the four kids, to get them ready for the national competition. What a dedicated teacher and what a dedicated quartet!
Aadi Arya Karthik, as an 8th grader, at South Forsyth Middle School qualified for the 4 person Georgia MATHCOUNTS team by placing 2nd overall at the Georgia MATHCONTS competition on March 19, 2018.
