Aadi got selected in the lottery to attend Murdoch Portal Elementary in the Cupertino School District. Murdoch Portal was a special place. It was arranged as villages, with three classes per village, and each classroom had two grades learning together in the Montessori style. Kindergarten and first graders together. Second and third together. Fourth and fifth together.
Since it was a lottery school, we had to drop him off and pick him up. One day we went to pick him up and he was nowhere to be found. We went looking for him, only to find him in a deep one-on-one conversation with the principal. I don’t know what they talked about, but I am sure it was not at kindergarten level.
These memories are the ones that we are left with but thankful for those nearly 21 years.
