Founded in 1980 as one of the first pre-collegiate studies programs offered by an American university, Duke Talent Identification Program aimed to identify gifted students in grades seven through twelve and provided advanced educational opportunities, as well as social and emotional support.
Duke TIP also honored the top 5 scorers in their talent identification process every year with a luncheon at Duke campus, a special ceremony in the Duke Colosseum, and a scholarship to the residential summer program.

Aadi Arya Karthik, as a sixth grader, was one of the five that year. Aadi Arya was thankful for that summer of math at Davidson college as part of Duke TIP. That helped him as he competed and went to the Raytheon MathCounts National Competition to represent Georgia.

When we visited Duke this weekend, it brought powerful emotions and memories. May peace be with you, Aadi Arya Karthik.
